Colin Hay on European welfare capitalism in hard times and crisis discourse
SPERI Co-Director Colin Hay is a busy man and we like to keep you updated on all our pursuits – so here are some links to a couple of forthcoming publications by Professor Hay.
As well as a taking a sneak peak of the final chapter of his forthcoming book co-authored book with Daniel Wincott ‘European Welfare Capitalism in Hard Times’ (Palgrave 2012), (PDF, 423KB) you can also read his piece in the British Journal of Politics and International Relations.
Echoing the ethos of our upcoming conference The British Growth Crisis: The Search for a New Model (16–18 July 2012, Halifax Hall, University of Sheffield), ‘Treating the symptom not the condition – Crisis definition, deficit reduction and the search for a new British growth model’, (PDF, 219KB) explores both the accepted discourse of the ‘crisis of debt’, and his preferred ‘crisis of growth’ discourse, outlining the implications of both, before offering the prospects for the return to growth under a new growth model.
As well as that, you can also watch a recent video of his Leonard Shapiro Memorial Lecture on the global financial crisis, delivered at the 60th anniversary conference of the Political Studies Association.
