Last night John Lanchester launched the paperback version of his latest book Capital in Firth Hall, at the University of Sheffield.
Insightful but different accounts of the book were provided by Mick Moran (Professor of Government, Manchester Business School) and Sue Vice (Professor of English Literature, University of Sheffield), before John explained how he came to write both Capital and Whoops! Why Everyone Owes Everyone and No One Can Pay and provided his take on the economy and the City of London. After taking questions from the audience, he then signed copies of his books.
We were delighted with such a huge turnout – with only a few seats to spare, and we would like to thank all of those who took the time to attend.
We would also like to thank the speakers, the volunteers who helped out and Blackwell’s bookshop for providing the books.
Photos from the event can be viewed on our Facebook page and a video of the event will be posted on the website shortly.
If you enjoyed the event, the next one is the SPERI Annual Lecture by Robert Peston on Thursday 25 April 2013 at 6pm in the Octagon Centre. Information about how to get your free ticket will be available in the near future.
