Register to attend the Annual Lecture by Robert Peston

As the next SPERI event fast approaches, we’re delighted to announce the details.

Following on from the first annual lecture by Rt Hon Ed Miliband in 2012, Robert Peston, The BBC Business Editor, will deliver the second annual SPERI lecture at 18.00 on Thursday 25 April 2013 at the Octagon Centre, University of Sheffield.

Robert Peston, the BBC’s Business Editor, has made a huge reputation for himself with his many broadcast reports about the causes and consequences of the global financial crisis.

The lecture, entitled  ‘Have we fixed the mess we’re in yet?’, follows on from his book with Laurence Knight, How Do We Fix This Mess?: The Economic Price of Having it All, and the Route to Lasting Prosperity (Hodder & Stoughton, 2012). In his insightful analysis, he declares that ‘I sat just behind the driving seat as we headed for the swamp’, and continues:  ‘How do we fix this mess? I don’t know. But don’t stop reading now. Perhaps if we have a clearer understanding of what went wrong, we’ll have a better idea of what needs to be done.’

A year on, Robert will update his analysis and copies of the book will be available for purchase.

Entrance is free of charge but places must be booked using the online booking system via the link below:
