SPERI is recruiting a Research Associate
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Associate to join our vibrant team at SPERI.
SPERI brings together leading international researchers, policy-makers, journalists and opinion formers to develop new ways of thinking about the economic and political challenges posed for the world by the current combination of financial crisis, shifting economic power and environmental threat.
We wish to recruit an exceptional post-doctoral Research Associate to work on a new research programme on Growth and the Environmental Crisis. At its core, this programme will reflect on the disarmingly simple question, ‘do we need growth and can we learn to live without it?’ The task is to consider how we start to think beyond growth and what this might entail practically. Central to this is the core question, rarely directly posed, of whether environmentally sustainable growth is actually possible.
The researcher appointed would need to work closely with the existing SPERI team, writing research and academic papers, but also policy interventions, debate pieces and blogs. We are looking for an experienced political economist, ideally with both a PhD and a record of independent publication.
For further information about the post and to apply, please search the job reference UOS008526 on the university jobs page and complete the application, providing the following two things as additional attachments:
- A sample of you research work (ideally a published paper or draft); and
- A brief outline of your proposed approach to such a research programme (2-3 pages).
This post is fixed-term with a start date of 1 September 2014 and an end date of 31 August 2016.
Salary for this grade: £28,972 – £36,661 per annum.
Closing date: 6 June 2014.
