We are now working intensively in SPERI to prepare for our third annual conference which takes place from 30th June – 2nd July 2014 at Halifax Hall in Sheffield. The conference theme this year is ‘The Global Contours of Growth and Development: Beyond the Crisis’.
We are expecting forty or more papers to be presented from delegates travelling to Sheffield from a large number of countries, as befits the theme of the conference. Plenary speakers include: Linda Weiss (University of Sydney), David Hudson (University College, London), Teddy Brett (LSE), Wang Yong (Peking University), Greg Chin (York University, Toronto), John Matthews (Macquarie University, Sydney), Raphael Kaplinsky (The Open University) and Andy Sumner (King’s College, London).
In addition, Professor Craig Murphy (University of Massachusetts, Boston) will deliver a pre-dinner lecture on 1st July entitled ‘Further Lessons of the “Good” Crisis in Africa and the BRICS’.
The conference should be a great event and it is certainly not too late to register to attend for all or part of the three days. All the details about how to do so are available here.
