Andrew worked at the University of Sheffield from 1973 to 2007, variously as Professor of Politics and Head of the Department of Politics, Director of the Political Economy Research Centre (PERC) and Pro-Vice-Chancellor. He then moved to the University of Cambridge where he was Professor of Politics and Head of the new Department of Politics and International Studies. He has served as Chair of the International Advisory Board of SPERI since SPERI’s creation in 2012.
Andrew is the author of many books on politics and political economy, including such classics as The Conservative Nation, Britain in Decline, The Free Economy and the Strong State, Politics and Fate, Hayek: The Iron Cage of Liberty, Between Europe and America and The Spectre at the Feast.
