SPERI PGR Network meeting with Martin Jones, 1 December

The Sheffield Political Economy Research Institute (SPERI) coordinates a small network of PhD and post-doctoral students who have an interest in political economy. As such we are interested in recruiting PGRs from across the faculty who would like to attend our next event.

The next meeting of the SPERI PGR network will involve a presentation from Professor Martin Jones who will give a presentation entitled ‘Crisis and Space: On the Geographies of Devolution’.

Martin is the Director of the White Rose Doctoral Training Centre as well as a member of the Department of Geography. His work speaks very well to an inter-disciplinary audience and will be of particular relevance given the fall-out from the recent referendum on Scottish independence and the re-emergence of English devolution as a key political issue. We therefore look forward to an interesting debate on the political economy of uneven development, regional inequality and the changing form of the British state in an age of crisis.

The event will be taking place on December 1st from 1500 – 1630 in the ICOSS boardroom.

Please could you RSVP to speri@sheffield.ac.uk if you intend to come as spaces will be limited. Please do contact us if you have any questions at all.
