SPERI PGR Network’s fourth seminar will take place tomorrow, 25th February, in the ICOSS boardroom from 1500-1700.
Professor Matthew Watson will be speaking about his current research ‘Rethinking the Market: Challenging orthodoxies to put people first‘.
Matthew is Professor of Political Economy at Warwick University and a member of the Centre for the Study of Globalisation and Regionalisation. His work speaks very well to an inter-disciplinary audience and will be of particular relevance given the fall-out from the financial crisis and in particular how orthodox economic opinion has managed to renew and reassert itself in the face of a global financial crisis rooted in quite clearly dysfunctional allocations. We therefore look forward to an interesting debate on the market ideology and what this means for the political economy in an age of crisis.
