Ataur Belal is Professor of Accounting at Sheffield University Management School. Formerly he was Professor and Head of the Accounting Department at Aston Business School, Aston University. He was a joint editor of Advances in Environmental Accounting and Management and currently an Associate Editor of Accounting Forum. Ataur obtained his PhD from the University of Sheffield.

Ataur’s current research focuses on sustainability accounting and accountability, sustainable development goals, NGO accountability and corporate human rights accountability. His work has appeared in various interdisciplinary journals including Environmental Politics, Sustainable Development, Accounting, Auditing and Accountability Journal, Accounting Forum, Critical Perspectives on Accounting, Business Ethics: A European Review, Journal of Business Ethics and Work, Employment and Society.

He has presented his research in many international conferences around the world and obtained research grants from the British Academy, CIMA and the British Council. He is a member of the editorial boards of various interdisciplinary journals including Accounting, Auditing and Accountability Journal, Business Ethics: A European Review, Critical Perspectives on Accounting.
